Tirupur, known primarily for its knitting garments, is getting substantial orders for woven garments as well. In view of this, small- and mid-level companies, especially those focusing on the woven segment, are expecting good business. Amongst them is Beaumonde, which has 100 machines; it is offering kidswear for girls and boys, womenswear and menswear (shirts and shorts), and is exporting 70 per cent of its production, while the remaining 30 per cent is for domestic sales.
J. Victor, CEO of the company says, “We are associating with a lot of buying agencies particularly those looking for woven garments from Tirupur. In fact, more than 20 buying houses are in discussion with us, and we are now planning to expand our capacities to meet their orders. Our current annual business is US $ 1.66 million (Rs. 10 crore); in the current scenario, we are expecting 300 per cent growth. This is mainly because of the significant increase in orders for woven products, which is our strength. Moreover, there are very few companies in Tirupur that are producing wovens; and besides this, finding workers in this segment are not easy.”
Beaumonde is exporting mainly to Europe, followed by US, and the average FOB of its products is US $ 8.
