
The bilateral trade between Bangladesh and Thailand, which, reportedly, stands at US $ 1.2, is all set to reach new heights after a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was virtually signed between the Port Authority of Thailand (Ranong Port) and the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) of Bangladesh to enhance maritime connectivity between the two countries in the Bay of Bengal, which would encourage the business communities of both countries to further explore trade and investment opportunities in a bid to increase bilateral trade.
Media reports maintained this adding Lt. JG Dr. Chamnan Chairith, R T N from the Port Authority of Thailand and Md. Zafar Alam, Member (Admin and Planning), the CPA, signed the deal on behalf of their respective sides.
Meanwhile, as per a press release issued in this direction, the MoU would encourage the business communities of both countries to further explore trade and investment opportunities even as additionally, both the port authorities would, reportedly, be benefitted through the exchange of information and cooperation in port management, operations, information technology, communication, port connectivity, etc.
