The third meeting of the Bangladesh-Uzbekistan inter-governmental commission on trade and economic cooperation, held recently, has stressed on forming a joint working group (JWG) so as to resolve trade barriers that exist between the two countries so as to boost bilateral trade and investments.
According to reports, at the meeting, Bangladesh Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and Uzbekistan Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev led their respective sides even if the discussion between the two sides, reportedly, revolved around seven key points including foreign direct investment, resumption of Dhaka-Tashkent flight, textile sector and cooperation in agro-processing and pharmaceuticals.
In the meeting, Bangladesh also, reportedly, requested Uzbekistan to set up its embassy in Dhaka so as to improve trade and economic relations between the nations.
