
As many as 44 prominent businesspersons in Bangladesh, including some from the country’s thriving apparel and textile sector, have been selected to be honoured as Commercially Important Persons (Industry) or CIP for their contributions to Bangladesh’s overall economic growth.
This is as per media reports, which underlined the Ministry of Industry has published a gazette to this end recently while adding as CIPs, the 44 entrepreneurs, for the next one year, will be entitled to several facilities including priority reservation of seats in Government vehicles for air, rail, road, and waterway transportation for business purposes, access to VIP lounges at the airport, invitation to national events, and letter of introduction from the Foreign Ministry to obtain a visa for travelling abroad, etc.
The 44 businesspersons who have been selected as the CIPs are nominated in six categories, namely – large-scale industries (service), large-scale industries (manufacturing), medium-scale industries, small-scale industries, micro industries, and ex-officio.
