Napapijri, an Italian premium casualwear brand owned by VF Corp, has been acknowledged with Cradle to Cradle Gold level certification for its circular series of recyclable jackets.
It couldn’t have got better than this for Napapijri as this certification is globally the most advanced standard for safe, circular and responsible materials and products.
Napapijri series jackets developed and tested over a span of 3 years are fully circular and 100 per cent recyclable due to their mono-material composition.
The fabric used in manufacturing is made of Econyl-regenerated nylon, recycled yarns from the discarded fishing net and other waste materials, while the fillings and trims are made of Nylon 6 (Polyamide 6).
The company also offers take-back programme that allows customers to give back their jackets after 2 years to the brand. These used jackets are then recycled into new fabric using the Econyl-regenerated system.
“Achieving Cradle to Cradle certification for the Circular Series at the Gold level is a demonstration of how material choices and deep collaboration with supply chain partners can holistically drive systems-level circularity from product to business model,” said Christina Raab, Vice President Strategy and Development for the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute.
Napapijri Circular Series, the fully recyclable jackets’ collection made of Nylon 6, was launched in Autumn/Winter 2020.
This is the first collection made of recyclable mono-material products to receive Cradle to Cradle Gold certification from the Cradle to Cradle Products Innovation Institute, and highlights the future of circular fashion.
The products will be available in spring/summer 2021.
