Mango is working with 264 Indian factories

Europe’s leading fashion group Mango has become the first major fashion company in Spain to publish the list of its Tier-3 factories, related suppliers of fabrics and fittings, after also being the first to publish a list of its Tier-1 and Tier-2 factories last year, related to manufacturing, finishing and processes respectively.

At the close of 2022, the company had 2,400 factories throughout the world considered to be Tier-1, Tier-2, Tier-3, approximately 50 per cent of which (1,172) are in proximity. Turkey is the country with the largest number of factories working for Mango (663), followed by China (651) and India (214). Spain and Italy occupy the fourth and fifth positions, with 169 and 150 factories respectively.

As far as total number of factories country-wise is concerned, 264 Indian factories are working with Mango which is the third largest after Turkey and China.

After these five countries, the countries with the largest number of factories working for Mango are Bangladesh (132), Morocco (87), Portugal (67), Vietnam (63) and Pakistan (51). In total, Mango produces its garments in 33 countries around the world.

In a statement, the company said that this move is part of the company’s commitment to people and its new sustainability strategy called Sustainable Vision 2030, which aims to move towards full traceability and transparency of its value chain, in order to continue with the process of auditing its suppliers and ensuring that appropriate working conditions are being fulfilled for the workers in factories the company works with around the world.

In the coming years, the company will implement numerous training projects principally focused on providing children and women access to education in countries such as Bangladesh, India and Pakistan, so that these become a lever of change for societies.
