Anna Braithwaite, former Marketing Director at Marks & Spencer (M&S), has been appointed as the Chief Customer Officer of John Lewis. Anna will be joining the company on 1st October 2025 and it is a “full circle” step for her, given her career began at this retailer.
Anna spent nearly 12 years at John Lewis, moving to Manager of Brand Marketing, leaving in 2009. After John Lewis, Anna held senior roles at Jacques Vert, Hobbs London, F&F Clothing at Tesco and most recently Marks & Spencer which included leading the brand’s marketing transformation.
As Chief Customer Officer, Anna will be responsible for customer experience and marketing in all channels, and continuing to strengthen John Lewis’ key qualities of quality, value and service.
Peter Ruis, Managing Director of John Lewis, said, “Anna’s deep understanding of our brand and brilliant customer focus make her the perfect fit for this role. Her arrival is timely for us, as we continue to sharpen our customer promise.”
Braithwaite was excited to move back to the retailer, particularly as John Lewis refreshes its “Never Knowingly Undersold” commitment and celebrates winning Which? Retailer of the Year.
This announcement comes during a period of organisational change for John Lewis, which now includes an updated Partnership Council, as well as new local Forums that are designed to enhance employee engagement and decision making.
