ISEAL Alliance, a global sustainability standards association will be publishing a new best practice guide for sustainability claims and labelling. The guide will reportedly share technical information and best practice examples to aid organizations that set standards to develop, manage and monitor their sustainability claims and goals. The good practice guide has been undergoing public consultation over the past year, and a public consultation is open until 30 January. A draft version of the elaborates guide’s purpose: “There are a myriad of ‘sustainability claims’ based on a diverse range of criteria, including claims of meeting a standard, membership claims, endorsements, ratings in a sustainability index and more. For those claims based on sustainability standards, it is important that there are effective systems in place to manage the claims process and contribute to the credibility of the overall standards system.”
