SGS India recently launched SGS Carbon Footprint Mark in India. The SGS Carbon Footprint Mark helps to demonstrate a company’s commitment to evaluate and/or reduce its impact on the climate. As a result of rising consumer awareness, reducing Carbon Footprint Mark has become a key focus area for organizations.
For every stage of the carbon footprint initiative, SGS Carbon Footprint Mark provides customers with confidence that the product carbon footprint claims have been verified by the world’s leading inspection, verification, testing and certification company. “Displaying SGS Carbon Footprint Mark on their consumer product packaging (textiles, food products, electronics, toys, furniture, etc.) will help organizations improve their reputation and brand image and increase customers’ loyalty in any market around the world,” says Vinod Kumar, Business Development Manager, SRS, GOTS & Sustainability Services (India).

Consumers are increasingly aware, not only of their own carbon footprints, but also that of the products and businesses they use. Product carbon footprint calculation can be the first step in developing a carbon strategy for any company. Aside from regulatory requirements, some buyers and retailers have been developing their own product carbon footprint schemes in order to have a better understanding of their carbon footprint and to offer clients data on the carbon emissions of their company and products.
