
On Friday night, 13th June, the body of Abdullah Hil Rakib, the managing director of Team Group and a former senior vice president of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), is expected to arrive in Dhaka. On Thursday, 12th June, Rakib, who passed away in Canada on Sunday, is scheduled to leave Toronto and arrive at Shahjalal International Airport at 9:30 p.m. local time.
His remains will be sent straight to his Banani home upon arrival, according to family sources. At 7:00 pm local time on Wednesday, the inaugural namaz-e-janaza will take place at Sunnat Jamaat Mosque in the Danforth neighbourhood of Toronto. On 14th June, there will be a second funeral prayer at BGMEA Bhaban, a third at Banani Mosque, and then Rakib’s burial at Banani Graveyard.
Tragically, Rakib and Biman Bangladesh Airlines senior pilot Captain Md Saifuzzaman perished in a boating accident on a Canadian lake on Sunday. The death of Rakib has shocked and saddened the leaders of the Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) and the BGMEA.
