With its headquarters in Metzingen, Germany, Eightyards GmbH has formally opened for business. It will enable the Hugo Boss Group, of which it is a wholly-owned subsidiary, to recycle excess materials for new applications.
Around the end of 2024, Hugo Boss originally said that Eightyards would be established, claiming that its growth was “strategically aligned” with a “commitment to environmentally and resource-friendly production processes.”
Eightyards offers opportunities for reselling, reusing, and re-, up-, and downcycling the group’s excess textiles for the fashion industry and other sectors. It is run by former Hugo Boss workers Marketa Miltenberger and Placido Klitzke.
Eightyard’s initial projects with clients in the fashion and telecoms industries demonstrate the company’s ability to turn waste materials into new goods.
According to Hugo Boss, the goal is to make the business a major worldwide hub for reusing excess materials in the upcoming years. In order to promote cooperation across industries, the service will eventually be expanded to other material supply sources.
