Fabscrap, the social enterprise that’s leading the way in fabric reuse and recycling solutions for fashion and design, announced a critical leadership transition with co-founder and creative director Camille Tagle assuming the role of interim executive director. The move comes after founding CEO Jessica Schreiber’s departure, who will remain on the organisation’s board.
While Fabscrap begins an official search for its future executive director, Tagle will lead the team through this critical period. The board will consider candidates over the summer and hope to hire a permanent chief by late 2025.
Tagle, who has guided the organisation’s creative and community-focused culture since its founding, spoke about intense personal dedication to navigating Fabscrap through the change. She said that this mission has always been one of love and purpose, and she is inspired every day by the community behind what they do and she’s committed to keeping their values and vision strong as they grow.
Under Tagle’s interim directorship, Fabscrap will continue to grow. The organisation has already kept more than two million pounds of waste fabric out of landfills and is looking to expand its reach even further. Future plans involve making reusable materials more readily available, building stronger relationships with local businesses and institutions, expanding the internal staff, and finding a larger facility to accommodate growing demand for its programs and community projects.
In spite of the change in leadership, Schreiber asserted that the direction of the organisation is clear. She noted that their purpose and strategy are steadfast, and Camille’s leadership guarantees stability as they search for the correct candidate to guide Fabscrap’s next chapter. Schreiber also urged supporters to get engaged and help ongoing fundraising campaigns during this transition period.
