Bangladesh’s Ready-Made Garment (RMG) sector has marked another milestone in sustainable manufacturing with five new factories earning certification from the US Green Building Council (USGBC) under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.
With this addition, the country now has 258 LEED-certified facilities, including 109 Platinum and 133 Gold-rated sites, retaining its position as the global leader in green garment production. Notably, 68 of the world’s top 100 highest-rated LEED-certified buildings are now located in Bangladesh.
The newly certified factories are:
South End Sweater Co. Ltd. (Ashulia, Dhaka) – LEED BD+C: New Construction v4, 85 points, Platinum; Purbani Fashion Limited (Belkuchi, Sirajganj) – LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1, 83 points, Platinum; KDS Fashion Ltd. (Chattogram) – LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1, 84 points, Platinum; Raidha Collections Ltd. (Bhaluka, Mymensingh) – LEED O+M: Existing Buildings v4.1, 90 points, Platinum; Texeurop BD Ltd. (Gazipur) – LEED BD+C: New Construction v4, 70 points, Gold.
