The worldwide pandemic is rapidly changing the way apparel business should be done!
Digitalisation of processes is positively evolving and leading garment manufacturing groups are excelling the digitalisation, especially in product development, during these unprecedented times.
Hong-Kong-based Crystal International Group Limited is one such renowned manufacturer which has stepped up to use digitalisation of sampling process in order to drive a more sustainable product development.
Crystal Denim, the denim division of Crystal International, recently developed a digital showroom platform to launch its new 4Zero eco collection.
The digital showroom aims to have effective communication of the group with stakeholders and higher transparency of the sustainability features of the new collection.
The new digital showroom platform will enable Crystal Denim to share the product information with buyers as well as entire product gallery that can be viewed virtually.
The information such as source of fabric procurement, sewing lines, washing divisions, Environmental Impact Measuring (EIM) score, water consumption and chemical consumption can be tracked digitally by scanning the QR code which will be available on tags of jeans.
The efforts of sustainable approach have been made right from designing phase and the information unveiled in the digital showroom talks about the sustainability efforts taken by Crystal Denim throughout the product development; fabric selection and procurement; and manufacturing process of 4Zero jeans.
4Zero collection has been sewn and washed in China-based Zhongshan Yida Apparel Ltd. factory which is an eco-denim factory. The collection is made out of sustainable fabric that includes 100 per cent Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) organic cotton, Better Cotton Initiative (BCI) cotton as well as recycled materials such as Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) recycled cotton and REPREVE recycled materials. These certified materials are traceable throughout the supply chain.
‘4Zero’ in 4Zero collection stands for four ‘Zero’ measures in the washing process that includes zero human intervention, zero use of potassium permanganate (PP), zero usage of hypochlorite and zero stone for lesser impact on environment – maintaining the worn-out look and distinctive blue hue of denim all at the same time.
