A textile unit in Narol, Ahmedabad was gutted in fire and exploded on the night of October 6. The fire was massive and four fire-tenders tried to douse the flames, informed Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services (AFES) officials. Rajesh Bhatt, additional chief fire officer said, it is suspected that short-circuit in the processing machinery could be the reason for the breakout. It turned worst when a storage area for cotton bales caught fire. “The fire spread quickly and engulfed the building, machinery and processed goods. We started fire fighting with 22 vehicles and this continued till the next day,” added Bhatt. No information regarding the loss and injures incurred was available.
