
Textile manufacturers in Indonesia’s Central Java Province are eager to expand their reach to the Middle East market besides the United States, China and Japan, which have higher export value compared to other commodities.
Textile manufacturers from Central Java are yet to explore the Middle East market where textile products from the province have been in demand. This was stated by Chairman of Indonesian Textile Association (API) Agung Wahono.
According to Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), Central Java’s textile and textile products exports in February 2017 had reached US $ 181.86 million. Export to Turkey and Egypt stood at US $ 8.08 million or some 1.96 per cent and export to Egypt amounted to US $ 5.16 million during the same period.

“We have understood the demand trend in the Middle East countries. We hope that better trade relations with Middle East countries will enhance our export to the region,” added the Chairman.
The textile and garment industry in Indonesia has been an important contributor to country’s economy. It also serves as a large source for jobs and export earnings.
