Income Tax Department has published a list of top 31 persons/companies (defaulters of Income Tax/Corporate Tax). There are three firms related to textile and apparel industry in that list – Royal Fabrics Pvt. Ltd. Hyderabad is at top in the list with the arrears of US $ 26 million (Rs. 158.94 crore) for three assessment years. Another firm of Hyderabad, Khan Garments is libel for US $ 7.59 (Rs. 45.56 crore) for assessment years; Mumbai-based Pamis Tex Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai manufacture of yarns with the US $ 2.7 million (Rs. 16.25 crore) for 6 assessment years. The Income Tax Department has said these entities are either not traceable or have inadequate assets for recovery of dues. In March 2015, it has released list of 18 Income tax defaulters, Viraj Dyeing & Printing Pvt. Ltd. and Poonam Industries Ltd., both from Surat were mentioned in that list with the arrear of US $ 3 million (Rs. 18.57 crore) and US $ 2.64 (Rs. 15.84 crore), respectively.
