IKEA, the Swedish furniture retailer, is shutting down its purchasing office in Delhi and setting up its new purchasing office in the premises of the Bengaluru store.
As per various media reports, the retail giant has informed its employees that they can either relocate or look at opportunities outside the organisation.
The process of relocation will start now and will be completed at the end of April 2023. Notably, employees will have 10 months of transition time.
A leading English daily quoted the company spokesperson, “We are now entering the fifth decade and want to continue setting ourselves up for long-term and sustainable success by consolidating into one hub in Bengaluru, with majority of the IKEA units in India.”
If employees choose not to move to Bengaluru, the company will help them find job opportunities within IKEA or will support them with external job coaching.
The Delhi office of the company has been operational for decades.
