
In what may be termed as an effort to promote exports and motivate entrepreneurs in the country, the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Ltd., recently launched the 8th edition of its awards dubbed as the HSBC Export Excellence Awards so as to recognise the contributions of Bangladesh’s exporters, in Dhaka.
“Bangladeshi entrepreneurs have been at the forefront of achieving this success and for the last eight years, we have provided a platform to Bangladesh’s exporters to showcase their capabilities and celebrate their global potential…This is something we have been doing for more than 150 years around the world,” reportedly maintained the Chief Executive Officer of HSBC Bangladesh, Francois de Maricourt at the event.
As per media reports, HSBC is planning to handover awards in five categories, of which there will be two awards for the apparel sector namely the “Exporter of the Year” in the readymade garments, supply chain and backward linkage industry (apparel).
In the readymade garment sector there are two categories namely ‘A’ and ‘B’. For category ‘A’, the criteria for qualification is to have US $ 100 million and above in annual export turnover while to qualify for ‘B’ it is less than US $ 100 million in annual export turnover.
In the supply chain and backward linkage industry (apparel) category, the criterion has reportedly been fixed at US $ 10 million and above.
The deadline for submitting the nomination is August 31, 2018, while the award ceremony will be reportedly held in September.
