In a significant expansion of its logistics network, Amazon India has opened five new fulfilment centres (FCs) in strategic cities—Indore, Bhubaneshwar, Kochi, Rajpura, and the Delhi-NCR area—its first such centres in four of the mentioned cities. With the new facilities having a combined storage capacity of over 1.8 million cubic feet, they will augment delivery speed and efficiency nationwide, just ahead of Prime Day 2025.
The FCs, which were operational on a full scale, are part of Amazon’s overall strategy to invest more than US $ 233 million in India this year. Run in collaboration with top logistics partners, the new centers will not only enhance delivery times for millions of customers but also boost local economies through the creation of thousands of full-time and part-time jobs.
The expansion is set to enable sellers to serve their customers more effectively through the ability to store stock near points of demand, translating to faster turnaround, Amazon stated. The centres will be key in enhancing Amazon’s national business, which currently serves every pin code serviceable in India.
Abhinav Singh, VP Operations India and Australia said that Amazon’s five new fulfilment centres are a strong investment in their infrastructure and underscore their promise to deliver faster, more consistent deliveries to customers, He added that in the coming Prime Day, Prime members can look forward to lakhs of products being delivered on or next day.
In addition to increasing physical capacity, Amazon’s new round of investment will also be used to improve safety initiatives for warehouse staff and create new technology to enable fulfilment operations. The company explains this infrastructure boost is a long-term move to construct the fastest and most reliable delivery network in India.
