Come this Spring and customers will be able to buy Lord & Taylor apparels on Walmart.com and Walmart mobile app.
The US retail giant has finalised a deal with Lord & Taylor, owned by Hudson’s Bay, to start selling its higher-end clothing and accessories on its digital platforms.
A dedicated space will be there on Walmart’s website and app for the fashion brand.
The decision is reportedly a move by Walmart to take on rival Amazon. Amazon just launched Prime Wardrobe.
The idea of this partnership will help Walmart retain those customers who keep on surfing for higher-end items.
“We see customers on our site searching for higher-end items, and we are expanding our business online to focus on adding specialized and premium shopping experiences, starting with fashion,” reportedly said Denise Incandela, Head of Fashion, Walmart US eCommerce.
Walmart has been working extensively to increase its online offerings. The company noted a three-fold increase in the list of items being offered from 20 million items last year to the current 60 million items.
The Lord & Taylor online store on Walmart.com will go live in spring 2018.
“As retail scenario continues to change, this virtual store creates great growth opportunities for Lord & Taylor and our brand partners,” said Liz Rodbell, President of Lord & Taylor.
The arrival on Walmart.com will make Lord & Taylor available to a wider customer base. Currently, the brand retails its products through lordandtaylor.com only.
