London-based fashion brand Urbanic, renowned for its blend of creativity and technology, has successfully concluded its Series C funding round, securing a significant US $ 150 million from a consortium of investors. Notable participants in the funding round include Mirabaud Lifestyle Impact & Innovation Fund from Switzerland, D1 Capital Partners, a New York-based investment firm, JAM Fund, and European luxury fashion families.
The funding injection will fuel Urbanic’s mission to transform the fashion industry by harnessing its AI technology, powered by a proprietary large language model (LLM) trained on diverse codebases. This technology enables the generation of fashion designs, AIGC-based creatives & content, and enhances supply chain efficiency.
Urbanic’s commitment to social responsibility is underscored by partnerships with NGOs and initiatives like the Urbanic Oasis project, which aims to plant one million trees in Latin America. The brand’s dedication to empowering marginalised communities extends to educational programs and collaborations promoting environmental stewardship.
James Wellwood, a pivotal figure in Urbanic’s leadership, expressed gratitude towards investors for their support in advancing the company’s goal of delivering sustainable fashion globally. Since its establishment in 2019, Urbanic has made significant strides in redefining the fashion landscape with accessible and eco-conscious designs, resonating with consumers worldwide. The latest funding round will expedite the realisation of Urbanic’s vision, driving the introduction of designs and sustainable practices across global markets. By leveraging technology for positive social impact, Urbanic continues to champion ethical and inclusive practices in the fashion industry, setting a standard for responsible business conduct in today’s world.
