Known for its wide range of offerings in the textile value chain, Texperts India is among the very few companies which support the complete chain to increase business. With a tag line that reads, ‘Our business is to promote your business’, the company has always been extremely responsive to match the evolving needs of every player from fibre to yarn to fabric and even garmenting and retail. “We are not a standard trading company that does only match-making for companies which have something that others want, but we are partners in the process, wherein adding value through innovation and service is a by-product,” says Yatish Pandey, Chairman and Managing Director of Texperts India.
Last year, the company had revamped its strategy setting up a vision for 2020, wherein any product marketed by or sold through Texperts should either be created by Texperts, or commercialized by Texperts, or at least contract manufactured by Texperts. With innovation at the centre of the new strategy, the thrust area for the company today is fabrics. “Fibre has little to do with aesthetic, it is more about performance. It is at the fabric level that creativity can really be explored, besides also getting better realization,” reasons Yatish. But he is quick to add that the starting point of product development is yarn. “Yarns provide the trigger for all experimentations, the results of which are eventually seen on the shelves of retailers, some years hence,” he emphasizes.
In the last few years, Texperts has through its innovation, offered to the industry four very commercially viable products. The most prominent among them is linocel, a combination of linen and lyocell that retains the look, lustre, brilliance, crease and feel of linen and handle, drape of lyocell. The second innovative product is linolook, a linen look-alike product, wherein Texperts use different techniques at fibre mixing and yarn spinning stage which add a distinct 100% ‘Linen’ look to the fabric. It offers enhanced comfort, drape and durability. The next is maltrex, a mélange yarn with magical textures, made by using innovative mix of different types of pre-coloured fibres. The last, but certainly not the least, is GlamX created with a unique ‘glitter’ fibre that makes a garment shimmer. A perfect yarn for eye-catching garments and statement accessories, GlamX can be substituted for metallic yarns due to its soft-hand feel and graceful drape.

In an endeavour to give commercially viable products, a few key areas have been identified as guiding parameters. The most important among them is sustainability, which the company believes to be the future direction for the industry as a whole.
“Our commitment is to offer environment-friendly products, for which we are working downstream to ensure traceability along the chain right from the source,” informs Yatish. From using sustainable fibres to manufacturing with sustainable processes, the complete value chain is being monitored.
Another important guideline is to achieve operational excellence. “The way the industry was working earlier is not acceptable today, as both speed to the market and quality benchmark have been raised many notches higher. In this scenario, the only way to increase business is to gun for excellence,” says an optimistic Yatish. He adds that excellence can only be achieved if there is synergy among all the players for which a collaborative approach to business is a must. In his words, “The textile industry is now all about collaborations, for the creativity and differentiation.”
In this collaborative mode, the company has formed partnerships of mutual benefit with manufacturers of fibres, yarns, fabrics and garments to generate an optimized framework for efficiently creating new concepts and introducing fresh products for the growing international market. The result is international trade of about 500 FCLs (about 10,000 tonnes) per month of Fibres, Yarns, Fabrics and Garments. The operations are supported by offices at Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Coimbatore in India, Dhaka in Bangladesh, Keqiao in China, Alexandria in Egypt and Montreal in Canada. The network is further reinforced by the presence of channel partners in more than 25 countries.
Though the business is global, Texperts is confident that India is the future of textiles. “So much activity is happening in the country, the mills are getting deeper into product development, investments are being made for innovation and even the Government policies are now industry-friendly. The way things are moving, we foresee India at the epicentre of development,” says Yatish. He also agrees that the country is now becoming a market and not just a sourcing destination, which will also play a powerful role in propelling India to greater heights in textiles.
Changing with the times, the company has shifted gear from being a service-oriented organization to a product-focused one. “Today, where we supply is not important, what we supply is the determinant. We will go wherever the customer is and offer them something different from what others are offering,” concludes Yatish with a vision for the future.
