River Island is set to cut a further 110 roles as part of its ongoing restructuring plan, pushing total redundancies this year to over 200.
According to reports, the fashion retailer has entered into consultations with affected head office employees, though the specific departments involved have not been disclosed. The move follows a previous round of job cuts in January, when approximately 100 staff members across buying, merchandising and HR departments were let go.
The latest redundancies come after River Island secured High Court approval for its restructuring plan, which will see 33 UK stores closed and rent reductions applied to another 71 locations. As part of the agreement, the retailer will impose rent discounts of 25% to 75% on 38 stores for 36 months, move to zero rent on 24 units, while nine stores will continue paying full rent.
