Startup Bangladesh Limited, the government-owned venture capital firm under the ICT Division in Bangladesh, has announced the appointment of Nurul Hai as its new Managing Director (MD).
Nurul Hai brings over 16 years of extensive experience in venture capital, impact investing, asset management, and banking across regions including Asia, East Africa, and the Caribbean. Prior to this role, he served as Vice President at the Small Enterprise Assistance Fund (SEAF) based in Washington, D.C., where he led initiatives related to investments and sustainable growth for startups in emerging markets.
In a statement, Hai was expected to bring a strategic outlook and global insight to Bangladesh’s burgeoning startup ecosystem. Commenting on his new position, he emphasised the importance of combining agility with responsibility, stating, “Real transformation happens when speed meets accountability. Our goal is to develop a robust pipeline where founders can grow with clarity and transparency, while investors benefit from timely and profitable exits.”
Under his leadership, Startup Bangladesh aims to implement a structured, dynamic, and internationally aligned strategy. The focus will be on strengthening partnerships and creating new avenues for Bangladeshi startups to gain recognition and opportunities on the global stage.
