
On 1st September, the Government announced plans to streamline trade procedures by reviewing and reducing unnecessary commercial regulations, according to Commerce Adviser Sk Bashiruddin. The initiative aims to facilitate smoother trade operations, bolster the national economy, and promote fair resource distribution.
During the ninth session of the National Trade Facilitation Committee (NTFC) held at the BIAM Foundation in New Eskaton, Dhaka, Bashiruddin emphasised the importance of an efficient trade framework. “Our goal is to establish an effective trade system that not only boosts our economic growth but also ensures equitable resource sharing. We also aim to curb tax evasion and improve overall efficiency,” he stated.
The adviser highlighted that simplifying trade processes would foster fairness and create a level playing field for all market participants. Additionally, he pointed out that ongoing efforts to automate customs procedures are expected to further expedite import and export activities.
The meeting was attended by prominent officials including Abdur Rahman Khan, Chairman of the National Board of Revenue; Mahbubur Rahman, Commerce Secretary; Dr. Moinul Khan, Chairman of the Bangladesh Trade and Tariff Commission; Nazneen Kawser, Executive Chairman of the National Skills Development Authority; Md Hafizur Rahman, FBCCI Administrator; Md Abdur Rahim Khan, Vice Chairman of Export Promotion Bureau; and Ayesha Akter, Additional Secretary (FTA) of the Ministry of Commerce, among other committee members.
