
UK-based Monsoon Accessorize, a high-street fashion chain, has appointed Elaine Deste as their new Finance Director, succeeding Adrian Walsh, who has been with the brand as Interim Finance and Property Director since August last year, as per reports. Deste previously served as Finance Director for the B2B division at O2 Telefónica. Prior to that, she was the Director of Planning and Performance and Director of Logistics Finance at Safeway.
Deste joins Monsoon Accessorize at a time when the brand is reportedly set to undergo a major restructuring, as the two Monsoon and Accessorize brands will now function as two different entity, it was also reported that the brand may close its 141 stores nationwide over the next five years.

It may be noted here that in the month of May in the current fiscal year 2016-17, the company reported a plunge of nearly 59 per cent to Pound 19.3 million in EBITDA. In the same period, the company’s total sales nosedived by around 8.6 per cent to Pound 434 million. Overall, Monsoon registered a net loss of Pound 617,000 in the given period as against the profit of Pound 18 million for the same period last year.
