
Retail sales in Malaysia surged by a good 20.9 per cent in the month of April to clock US $ 12.18 billion.
Notably, shift by consumers to shop online during the pandemic-induced restrictions has been sustained.
Despite the restrictions eased and the country reopening, Malaysians have the same propensity to shop online as they had a year back, when the pandemic was at its peak.
In a shopping behaviour study done on 1005 Malaysians (aged between 18 and 74), it was found that fashion is the most popular online shopping category attracting 50 per cent of those polled.
E-commerce continued to be popular amongst youngsters. While, Shopee is the most preferred e-commerce website for Malaysians with 79 per cent of respondents having bought products there, Lazada took the second spot with 21 per cent.
Better Than Blouses, Fern, Sayang, Kanoe and Kittie Yiyi are some of the prominent fashion brands of Malaysia.
