LuisaViaRoma, an Italian luxury clothes company, has launched its first store in New York, marking its first foray outside of its native market. According to LuisaViaRoma, the main store will open at 1 Bond Street in Manhattan.
The company plans to close the gap between physical and stationary retail with this opening as part of its global expansion strategy. The retailer also runs an online store with the same name and a flagship store in Florence in addition to New York.
LuisaViaRoma CEO Tommaso Andorlini said, “While our digital platform will continue to offer world-class service 24/7, our New York flagship will serve the city’s trendsetters with exclusive merchandise and unique experiences that are best enjoyed in person.”
Offering men’s and women’s collections from international names like Chloé, Maison Margiela, Jil Sander, and Lanvin as well as US-based brands like Gabriela Hearst, Proenza Schouler, and Helmut Lang, the 1,056 square metre retail space is divided across two levels.
Customers are also free to bring in their own luxury things, for which they will receive a coupon from the merchant, in addition to a variety of authentic vintage pieces.
Touchscreens linked to the online store are positioned throughout the store for digital connectivity, and additional services specifically for VIP customers are housed in a separate section with a separate entrance.
