Alex Scott, a presenter and former football player for Arsenal and England, has been named Marks & Spencer’s first sportswear ambassador. In an effort to draw in more business, the high street company has signed the former Lioness as its first fitness apparel ambassador.
Scott took to Instagram to write, “I’m so excited to be announced as Marks & Spencer’s Activewear Ambassador – what a moment! Could not be happier. Really excited for you to see what’s to come with this iconic British brand.”
The sportswear market is expanding, especially in relation to Marks & Spencer’s third-party approach.
The shop expanded its athletic offering in February by adding Puma and Reebok, two of the biggest names in sportswear, as part of its “Brands at M&S” strategy. There are already over 90 third-party brands on the M&S marketplace.
Sportswear searches increased by +110 per cent during the launch, which fell within the first year of M&S and The Sports Edit’s collaboration celebration.
