Arka Fashion Week, a pioneering event aimed at democratising the nation’s fashion, is slated to return for a second edition from 13th June to 16th June at the capital’s Aloki Convention Centre in Tejgaon.
The inaugural Arka Fashion Week, which took place from 26th–28th October of last year had a turnout of over 7000 attendees.
At a press conference held at the fashion week venue, the event organisers stated that Arka Studio, motivated by its previous success, will once again reaffirm its commitment to offering fair possibilities to all kinds of designers and companies.
The press conference was joined by Arka Fashion Week’s founder Asad Sattar, alongside co-organisers Aumia Khundkar, and Sk Saifur Rahman. Representing Azra Mahmood Talent Camp for Face of Bangladesh (the national competition of Face of Asia), Dewan Sajid Afzal was also present at the press event.
After breaking down the specifics of the four-day fashion week, the press conference organisers stated that the main goal of this special fashion event is to start a suitable and international fashion week with a variety of offerings for the country’s fashion spectators.
“Arka Fashion Week’s main goal is for Bangladesh to transition from exporting clothing to exporting fashion, to see Bangladeshi retail labels and companies contribute to the export of culture. These changes in the fashion and textile industries will elevate our country’s profile and strengthen our economy, as we want to see ‘Designed in Bangladesh’ tags attached to our fashion elements, besides our hard-earned ‘Made in Bangladesh’ tags,” Asad Sattar averred at the event.
