Dutch lingerie brand Hunkemöller is planning to open its stores in the UK market when right opportunity will come. The first is likely to be set up at Oxford Street, the premier shopping thoroughfare in London. The retailer feels UK is a major hub for opportunity.
“We’ve got 900 stores. We’re about to go into Switzerland and Norway and our team is looking at London. When we find the right opportunity we will go in,” said Hunkemöller Chief Executive Philip Mountford. The retailer is expected to foray into UK market by the end of next year, but it could be earlier if an attractive opportunity arises.

Philip added that the UK is dominated by retailers like Marks & Spencer and Debenhams, and Hunkemöller fits perfectly into the niche between M&S and Victoria’s Secret.
