German sportswear giant adidas has announced a ‘Choose to Give Back’ reuse programme in its continual sustainable efforts to minimise waste of plastic.
In association with ThredUp’s resale-as-a-service platform, the sportswear brand will accept apparels from any brand, which will be either reused or resold. While confirming the same through a press release, adidas said this will be done through its Creator’s Club app.
Though the ‘Choose to Give Back’ reuse programme was launched late last week, it will widely roll out in early 2022 – both in physical stores and online.
So what’s it all about!
The customers can request a Clean Out Kit prepaid shipping label in the app and then use it to mail back their apparel and accessories from any brand or category. Members will also earn rewards with adidas for using the reuse programmes.
Notably, any apparel or fashion accessories that cannot be resold will be used by ThredUp’s partners.
The last few years have been good for ThredUp and 2021 has been no different. Its resale-as-a-service programme has brought in many clients this year, including the likes of Farfetch, Fabletics, Madewell and now adidas.

For adidas, this is another effort towards its several sustainable measures. The brand plans to go carbon neutral across all of its North American facilities, including stores, distribution centres and offices by 2025.
adidas was founded in 1924 and is known for apparel, shoes and fashion accessories. It generated € 21.915 billion in 2018.
