Key leadership appointments have been revealed by Myer, an Australian department store brand, following its merger with Apparel Brands. On 14th March 2025, Kathy Karabatsas will take over as group chief financial officer, replacing Matt Jackman, who leaves after eight years to pursue new opportunities.
Karabatsas offers a wealth of expertise from senior leadership positions in consumer goods and retail, such as finance director at Lion Dairy & Drinks and CFO and managing director at David Jones.
Megan Collins, who will take over as chief people officer on 28th April 2025, is another addition to Myer’s management team. Collins provides more than 25 years of domestic and international human resources experience from firms like General Electric (GE), Treasury Wine Estates, and Newcrest Mining. As the new chief merchandise officer, Belinda Slifkas will be in charge of the planning, purchasing, and merchandise departments. Slifkas is currently Myer’s general merchandise manager for clothing, home goods, and entertainment. He has more than thirty years of international wholesale and retail experience.
In February 2025, Myer appointed Mark Medwell as chief information officer, further strengthening company leadership. Medwell formerly managed the end-to-end technology for more than 1,400 stores in 23 countries at the Cotton On Group. In March 2025, Darren Wedding joined Super Retail Group as chief supply chain officer.
Now that the Apparel Brands deal is finalised, Myer Group will include Marcs, David Lawrence, and Sass & Bide into its portfolio of Myer Exclusive Brands with the goal of boosting productivity and performance under the new group structure.
