In order to boost sales, Brazil-based apparel retailer Lojas Riachuelo SA, controlled by Guararapes Confeccoes SA, has decided to launch its e-commerce section by the end of this month.
The yet to be launched e-commerce site will sell all 15,000 items available at the brandβs brick and mortar stores. To launch this e-commerce section, the retailer has invested 28 million reais (US $ 9 million). The decision was taken by the company after its rival retailers noted good performance in the sector.
βRiachuelo’s late arrival to e-commerce has allowed the company to design a business model more likely to succeed,β Online Head Jonas Ferreira said in the statement, noting that e-commerce will be integrated with the chain’s 291 stores.
