Amazon, the US e-commerce giant, has seen its Q4 net sales rise year-on-year by 9 per cent to a whopping US $ 137.4 billion.
The quarter, which ended 31 December 2021, saw the company’s net income get almost doubled from US $ 7.2 billion to US $ 14.3 billion.
Full year sales too rose by a good 22 per cent to US $ 469.8 billion, while a year earlier (2020), the numbers were US $ 386.1 billion – all this despite lockdown-induced uncertainties and supply chain snarls.
The firm’s net income for the full year 2021 surged from US $ 21.3 billion in 2020 to US $ 33.4 billion.
The e-commerce stalwart expects the net sales in first quarter of 2022 to grow between 3 per cent and 8 per cent – and if this happens, Amazon would end up making somewhere between US $ 112 billion and US $ 117 billion.
In January this year, Amazon had announced that it will be soon unveiling its maiden physical apparel store.
