India-based Aditya Birla Group has reportedly approached several companies including e-commerce giant Flipkart to rehabilitate its 200-plus Abof employees.
The Group recently decided to close down its flagship e-commerce site Abof.com in view of the tough competition from online rivals such as Flipkart and Amazon.
At least 25 e-commerce, technology and consumer companies have been approached to help employees get jobs, said Santrupt Misra, HR Director at Aditya Birla Group while talking to a leading business daily.
The firm aims to keep a majority of the workers with itself. Some of them have already been given a different role within the Aditya Birla Group, added Misra.
According to media reports, the Aditya Birla Group is also planning to sell the private label ‘Abof’ to Flipkart.
Abof.com was launched by the Group in 2015 to sell a more limited and fashionable range of merchandise. It also started selling products at discounted prices but failed to garner customers’ interest.
