The interim Government announced plans to transfer three terminals of the Chittagong port to foreign operators by 31st December. Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) Executive Chairman Chowdhury Ashik Mahmud Bin Harun shared this update during an event at the port.
Speaking after inaugurating an agent desk at Gate No 4, Mahmud identified the terminals to be handed over as the New Mooring Terminal (NTC), Laldia Terminal, and Bay Terminal. He stated that the tendering process is currently underway, with the Government set to submit documents only to the highest bidder to elevate the port’s global standing.
He also highlighted ongoing reforms at Chattogram port, expressing optimism that the port’s capacity could increase four to five times by 2030, contributing significantly to the country’s maritime infrastructure development.
