Following the growing demand for Wool Denim, Woolmark, wool certification mark company, has unveiled its first-ever comprehensive resource, Wool Denim Lab Edition and a toolkit. This edition is presented through two books divided into seven categories, including A Revised Classic, Special Treatments, Denim Shirting, The Denim Suit, Signature Denim, Thread Rebels, and Denim- Inspired Knits and Jerseys.
“We have seen an ever-increasing demand for wool denim swatch requests through The Wool Lab over the past 4 years,” said Woolmark’s General Manager for Processing Innovation and Education Extension, Julie Davies. With luxury brands such as Bottega Veneta, Alaïa, Junya Watanabe and Dunhill already using Wool Denim, Davies also spoke about the USP of this innovative fabric. “The timeless appeal of denim is enriched with wool’s skin-friendly softness, breathability, versatility, and durability, resulting in wardrobe essentials that transcend the ordinary.” The company also emphasised on how wool’s natural thermoregulating properties make wool denim all-seasonal and a warmer option than cotton jeans.
This edition is further supported by a toolkit, which was developed in collaboration with Woolmark’s global network of textile experts. The toolkit features in-depth insights into wool, sustainability practices, guidance on fibre selection and construction, and finishing techniques. This expert-driven resource is designed to help designers and manufacturers explore the potential of wool denim.
This unique guide is available in digital format through The Wool Lab platform, ensuring global accessibility and providing a reliable resource for the supply chain.
Apart from The Wool Denim Lab, the Wool Lab also houses new blends like wool-hemp, wool-lyocell, or 100 per cent extrafine wool spun with premium fibres like silk, cashmere, or paper – offering unique benefits and applications for those on the cutting edge of innovation.
