Syeda Rizwana Hasan, Advisor to the Interim Government at the Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change, commended the winners of the Textile Talent Hunt (TTH) 8.0 at a ceremony conducted at the BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology (BUFT).
The winning team, which included Mitu Khatun, Monjur Morshed, and Shihab Rahman, was honoured for their creative project that reduced the amount of water used when dyeing 100 per cent cotton garments in dark shades. Their strategy, which exemplifies developments in sustainable textile processing, used a step-reduction procedure with pH-neutral non-ionic surfactants and acidic anionic soaping agents. Tropical Knitex Ltd., a member of the Textile Today Innovation Hub, collaborated on the project.
Among the distinguished attendees were Muhammad Imtiaz, BUFT’s Director of Public Relations; Dr. Ayub Nabi Khan, BUFT’s Pro Vice-Chancellor; and Faruque Hassan, former BGMEA President and Chairman of BUFT’s Board of Trustees. The event also featured the Shaheed Selim BUFT National Debate Competition 2024. The pupils’ dedication to sustainability was commended by advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan, who emphasised the value of encouraging eco-friendly behaviours and avoiding single-use plastics.
