Together with Chorka Textile Ltd., H&M Group is launching a ground-breaking project in Bangladesh that will test three innovative technologies aimed at advancing sustainable production. Revozona AG, Imogo AB, and Pluvia are three European Plan Zero participants whose inventions are being integrated into this effort. This is the first time these technologies will be examined collectively in a single setting.
The goal of the partnership is to show how these innovative technologies can work together to significantly reduce energy use, water use, and chemical waste during the course of production. H&M Bangladesh’s Production Country Manager, Ziaur Rahman, stressed the need of embracing new technology as essential to combating climate change.
He said, “This collaboration not only helps us achieve our lofty targets of a 56% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and a 30% reduction in freshwater extraction by 2030, but it also serves as an example of how our operations are becoming more electrified.”
Rahman emphasised the need for dependable grid infrastructure in order to carry out this electrification and the significance of involving important parties in order to guarantee a good outcome.
Gérard J. Peters, Global Coordinator of Plan Zero, commented on the initiative, saying, “Plan Zero is more than just a cluster of technologies; it’s the spark for a sustainable revolution in the textile sector. We are creating the framework for a future in which sustainability and fashion coexist by combining creative ideas and helping businesses to reduce their environmental effect.”
