Association of Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers, or ACIMIT, convened its General Assembly on 9th July in Milan. ACIMIT President Marco Salvadè emphasised the industry’s resilience in the face of present global uncertainty. The ACIMIT will be showcasing the industry’s products at the ITMA Asia + CITME 2024 textile machinery exhibition.
The output and exports of textile machinery in Italy fell by 16 per cent in 2023 to reach US $ 2.55 billion and US $ 2.22 billion, respectively. China, Turkey, India, and the United States are the main markets for Italian manufacturers; good trends are also beginning to emerge in the Chinese market, and Southeast Asia is showing increased interest.
Salvadè stressed that although 2024 will present many difficulties, especially because of geopolitical unrest and varying demand, the Italian textile machines industry would continue to lead the way in innovation.
With more money going towards R&D to improve skills in textile recycling and circular supply chains, the emphasis is now on assisting the textile industry’s sustainable transition. This calculated turn of events not only addresses the growing need for environmentally friendly solutions, but also puts Italian technology providers in a position to take advantage of openings in the thriving Southeast Asian market.
