
The President of the Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), S. M. Mannan (Kochi), has emphasised the significance of augmented Chinese investment and greater exports to the Chinese market in reducing the trade deficit between the two countries.
He underlined the importance of bilateral collaboration to take advantage of the enormous commercial potential that exists between China and Bangladesh.
The BGMEA President spoke about this during a meeting with the delegation of Bangladesh China Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCCI) at the BGMEA Complex in Dhaka. The BCCCI delegation included BCCCI advisor Md. Khorshed Alam, Secretary General Al Mamun Mridha, Vice President Md. Shahid Alam, Director Mehrun Nesa Islam and Director Syed Aminul Kabir.
In the meeting, BGMEA senior Vice-President Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, Vice-President Abdullah Hill Rakib, Director Md. Nurul Islam, Director Md. Zakir Hossain, former Vice President of BGMEA Mohsin Uddin Ahmed Neeru were present.
Leaders of the BGMEA stated that China may buy more Bangladeshi ready-made clothing. However, China, a significant provider of synthetic fibre, chemicals, dyes, textile machinery, and other raw materials, can supply Bangladesh’s expanding demand. Chinese buyers are welcome to approach Bangladesh with offers of manufactured textiles.
