Lindström India, the 100 per cent subsidiary of Finland headquartered Lindström Oy, a global textile rental company providing workwear, cleanroom workwear, and mat services, has said that it is completely in line with Lindström’s global science-based climate targets in India as well.
Science-based target initiative (SBTi) defines and promotes best practices in emissions reductions and net-zero targets in line with climate science and assists companies in setting and attaining ambitious emission reduction targets based on the latest climate science.
Lindström India was established in India in 2007, and it clothes more than 300,000 people on a daily basis across India.
Lindström is a family-owned textile service company whose business is based on a circular economy, with over 5,000 dedicated employees. In 2022, the group had a turnover of € 496.4 million.
In a press release Jayant Roy, MD, Lindström India said, “Our focus is on sustainability and the global team has coordinated the extensive calculations and process with the SBTi and we in India believe that this only highlights Lindström’s resolve in reducing global greenhouse gas emissions and work for a sustainable environment”.
Lindström’s target is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50 per cent across the value chain by 2030, ultimately achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
Lindström Oy is among the over 3350 companies with their targets approved by the science-based climate targets, and among the over 390 companies globally with their net-zero targets approved.
Lindström Group commits to reduce absolute Scope-1 and 2 GHG emissions by 50 per cent by 2030 from a 2021 base year. It also commits to reduce absolute Scope-3 GHG emissions by 50 per cent within the same timeframe.
In the long term, it commits to reduce absolute Scope-1 and 2 GHG emissions by 90 per cent by 2050 from a 2021 base year and commits to reduce absolute Scope-3 GHG emissions by 90 per cent within the same timeframe.
