VDMA, a German-based Textile Machinery Association, has announced to start a series of technology webinars from 22 June.
The first webinar themed ‘Technologies for the production of nonwovens for respiratory protection masks (FFP masks and surgical masks)’ will accommodate experts from renowned companies such as Oerlikon Manmade Fibers, Nanoval and Mahlo.
According to VDMA, the current pandemic has created a situation where the world is seeing escalating demand for respiratory masks and that’s what led the association to collaborate with the Working Group Medical Technology to organise a webinar in order to educate the industry.
The webinar will talk about currently available technologies for the production of melt-blown nonwoven fabric for respiratory masks – FFP and surgical masks.
It will have three sessions: (1) Leading Melt-blown Technology; (2) Online Quality Control Solutions for Melt-blown Nonwoven and (3) The NANOVAL Process for an Alternative to the conventional melt-blown: “A springing tiger or a damp squib.”
In the first session of 90-minute long webinar, Dr. Ingo Mählmann, Vice President (Sales and Marketing), Oerlikon Nonwoven, will present deeper insights into its meltblown technology which is claimed to be an efficient technology to produce high-separation filter media from the plastic fibres.
The second session will see Matthias Wulbeck, Area Sales Manager, Mahlo, speaking about the requirement of high-level quality in medical face masks in order to ensure safety function to the wearer.
With a various measurement and control technology methods, Mahlo is able to support mask manufacturers in integrating parameters like air permeability and basis weight.
The third session will have Christian Gerking, Managing Director, Nanoval who will discuss how Nanoval has developed a whole new spinning process of meltblown-kond nonwoven fabric. Nanoval’s offering of nonwoven material does have following properties – higher strength and elongation, lower pressure loss which leads to lower energy consumption and increased production capacity.
The moderation of the webinar will be done by Boris Abadjieff who belongs to VDMA Textile Machinery Association. The participation is free of charge and the industry people can register to this webinar by visiting VDMA website.
After this webinar, the following topics have already been planned by VDMA which will be hosted in upcoming weeks – Production technologies for alternative masks with filter effect;
production technologies for medical textiles (excluding masks); sustainable denim production;
Energy efficiency in textile finishing; smart production of knitted fabrics; and textile recycling in spinning mills.
