Among the few technology suppliers who had a comprehensive range of technology to offer, Mehala was one of the most sought-after stalls at the GTE’11. Talking to Team StitchWorld, S. Carthic, Director, Mehala was confident that 2011 would be a good year for the industry. “We saw new investments in 2010 as the industry picked up and after the extremely low phase in 2009, it was a positive sign of recovery and this year the inquiries that are coming indicate that the year will be better than the last one,” says Carthic.
The company was showing in Delhi for the first time machines from JAM and MURATA, both of which are unique machines for niche operations. While MURATA has an entire line of smoking and shirring technology with pin-tuck attachment options, JAM has the world’s fastest belt loop setter machine. JAM also has a double head fully automatic pocket setter machine – the JT767FA, which is claimed to be the world’s fastest double colour pocket setter with a productivity of 2400 pockets per 8 hours.
Mehala has been very careful in the selection of the technology that it represents. “We only work with a product that we are confident in and have the technical expertise to support even after the sales,” says Carthic. The company is also very careful that the brands/machines that they represent do not in any way clash. “All our technologies are standalone and in no way compete with each other,” says Carthic. The company is representing some top brands like Top Bullmer, INA Data Tracking system, Siruba and Duerkopp Adler, besides JAM and MURATA. Duerkopp Adler, which is well-established player in India for high-end automated sewing machines, is also a relatively new partner for Mehala, but the positive feedback has been very encouraging.
