The Italian pioneer in cutting room solutions, IMA the parent company of the finishing machine specialist MACPI has in the last 5 years soared to commendable heights in the South Asian apparel manufacturing industry, with Bangladesh, Indonesia and India as its top three markets. Representing the company at the CISMA show, Gian Pietro Rossi, Marketing Manager, IMA stated, “We introduced our cutting room solutions in China three years ago and last year we sold 5 cutters and 15 spreaders. This year the increment would be positive as we have opened our own office in southern China. The long-term target for the next 2-3 years that we have for China is at least 10 more cutters.”
Founded in 1977, with its headquarters in Palazzolo sull’Oglio, Brescia, IMA has always had a sharp focus on the design and production of machines for spreading and moving fabrics in the cutting room, as well as on the development of software for organising workflows and optimising material consumption. Due to such rich experiences the company has been doing tremendously well in India and Bangladesh. “Last year we did very well in Bangladesh, but due to the present situation of the country, the market has been relatively slow this year. India is our biggest market and in Tirupur alone we sold 7 cutters and 20 spreaders last year,” asserted Rossi. The company’s focus on India will increase in the coming two years and the target is to do a business worth Euro 1.5 million.
Spearheading the company’s growth, the new cutters Formula Evo Plus Syncro (model IMA 919) are automatic cutting machines of new generation for compressed lay thickness from single ply to 70 mms according to the kind of fabric to be cut. The use of latest electronics and total digital control of each single micro-function allows for detection and rectification of any anomaly, even before it shows. This important technical innovation permits IMA Formula Evo Plus 919 to adapt its own technical-operative specifications to different fabric types (from denim to Lycra) and to different lays (from 70 compressed mms to single ply), granting, in any situation, constant precision of cutting performances, maximum speed and vacuum power adaption to real requirements with high energy saving. Further, the Formula Evo Plus digital technology allows the flexibility to setup the working conditions of the machine at every level (electronic and software) and to adjust to different cutting situations.
But let’s say that even in the spreading IMA has done great strides introducing the new model 890, Phoenix line machine which is a real turning point. IMA has introduced the first electronic spreading machine in 1977 and now we are presenting the first digital spreading machine in the world, developed with a fully industrial construction concept, fully interchangeable in accordance with the demands and challenges of the market. In particular with digital technology we can reach higher performances and we have a lot of new functions that are now available and very helpful for our customers and for their job.
