With the industry smitten by consistent quality and improved productivity in its manufacturing operations, the demand for sewing machine automates has gone up significantly, opening up the market for pioneers like Duerkopp Adler with more than 150 years of experience in manufacturing sewing automates for all types of sewn products. The German pioneer has been present in Bangladesh for the past 15 years in close collaboration with its sole agent DAD International. “With the recent developments, not only are the companies moving up the value chain by doing higher FOB products but are also focussing a lot on improving quality and increasing productivity to satisfy customers and that is achievable only through using automats,” asserts Bernd Bräuer, Heading the company’s global sales division.
Participating at the Garmentech fair, Duerkopp Adler endorsed its image of an industry-friendly automated sewing solutions manufacturer and provider. The highlight of the company’s showcase at the fair was a range of pocket welting and back pocket setting automates, which has already been doing pretty well in the country. “After the successful installation of 60 pocket welting machines at Ha-meem Group’s manufacturing facilities, the growth in the market has been on an upward projectile, even in times of political instability,” adds Bernd Bräuer. This success has been possible for the company by offering solutions which are highly versatile and promise high levels of quality and productivity. “The 745 pocket welting automate and the 745S speed pocket welting machine can be utilized by any apparel manufacturing unit for making a variety of pockets with or without flap for trousers and jackets, reducing the manufacturing dependency on labour, while giving a good return on investment,” explains Bernd Bräuer.
Having made a mark in the industry with its machines for shirts, trouser and formal jackets manufacturing, the next target for the company is to tap the denim bottom manufacturing segment of the country which is one of the largest exported apparel products for Bangladesh today. “For the first time we have showcased our new 906 pre-creased back pocket setter in Bangladesh which does the folding and sewing only, making the machine much more flexible, unlike the previous model 806, which does the folding, creasing and sewing in one single movement, shares Bernd Bräuer.
The 906 back pocket setter is equipped with the short thread trimmer from Duerkopp Adler’s M-Type technology for sewing machines and the large capacity XL hooks. The machine promises an output of 1800 pockets per day with double seam and bartack at the maximum sewing speed of 3,000 stitches per minute. The company would focus on offering a complete line of jeans sewing automates specially for the Bangladesh market and the introduction of the model 906 machine would pave the way forward.
Optimistic of the future, Duerkopp Adler is looking at opening an office in Bangladesh for servicing its customers more closely than before through its 6 technicians in Bangladesh. For handling complete projects, technicians are sent from Germany and Vietnam for training and installation.
