CGS Oris, a leader in colour management, digital proofing and specially formulated media, and Mutoh Europe, which offers a variety of format printers and flatbed printers, have collaborated to launch an end-to-end solution for digital printing specifically developed for direct-to-substrate proofing of packaging.
The novelty integrates Mutoh’s ValueJet 628MP, a 24” (630 mm) wide digital piezo inkjet printer, CGS Oris Flex Pack software and the new generation CGS Oris multi-resin XG Inks (C, M, Y, K, Lc, Lm & White).
Its unique specialty is that it can print directly on a wide variety of packaging substrates without any primer or pre-coating, such as shrink film, uncoated label stock and corrugated board.
In comparison to the other water-based or eco solvent-based proofing technologies, the solution offers the ability to print directly on the same substrate that will be used in the final production run.
The machine features an innovative mild temperature, low pressure hot air knife system that allows quick drying of CGS ORIS XG INKS on uncoated substrate without the need of exposing it to excessive heat.
Also, the media transportation system allows easy loading of a variety of flexible substrates including the thin PE shrink film. The internal ink circulation system tackles the white CGS ORIS XG INKS.
Furthermore, the ValueJet 628MP printer is also equipped with a 10 kg roll take-up system and has a sheet off mechanism to sheet off individual prints.
