Orange is replacing the deep wine tones that dominated recent autumns. The shift is already visible in the sources. Orange-family shades such as persimmon, rust, burnt orange and pumpkin spice appeared at Chanel and Dior, and dominated Milan Fashion Week street style. Pantone’s A/W 2026-27 New York Fashion Week report flagged this warm-earth register as a defining thread of the season, and copper had strong appearances at Chanel, Saint Laurent and Zimmermann. Pumpkin reads as a livelier alternative to camel and beige, and it pairs easily with olive, denim and brown.
Indian labels were working this palette before the runways confirmed it. Fabindia offers a Rust Viscose Silk Printed Long Kurta, hand-block printed. Suta treats rust as a recurring house staple across saris and blouses, and Raw Mango’s “Reis” is a rust silk-organza sari with dori embroidery. Anavila built its new Delhi flagship around terracotta, and 11.11/eleven eleven dyes its Orange Rust Wide Pleated Pants naturally with rubia, iron rust and harda on handwoven linen. At the occasion-wear end, Sheetal Batra’s pumpkin orange kurta set pairs a chanderi kurta with gharara pants and a scarlet red dupatta, Priyanka Singh offers an orange kurta set with sequin zardosi and mukaish embroidery, and Masoomm has an orange kurta set with an organza dupatta. Nicobar lists its Indus Shirt in rust for men.
The shade is also strong in mainstream ethnic wear. Libas lists rust wool co-ord sets and an orange silk-blend suit in its winter edit. Biba’s autumn-winter edit includes a rust Liva printed palazzo kurta set. Nykaa Fashion’s orange kurta-set listings also carry Vishudh and Zari Jaipur, Mokosh and Gahan, Qissa (in tangerine), KVS Fab, VredeVogel, Berrylicious and Shopping Queen.
The shade carries built-in festive and craft associations at home, from Ajrakh and bandhani dye traditions to zari-woven silks. That lets one palette serve both the festive-wedding cycle and A/W export buyers. Natural-dye clusters working with madder and rust tones are well placed to deliver it authentically.
